Operating Principle
Bottom Discharge Centrifuges use centrifugal force to operate. A rotating drum accelerates solids to the outer walls and discharges liquid phases through the bottom of the centrifuge.
The centrifuge’s rotating drum receives the suspension or slurry containing solids and liquids.
Centrifugal Force: As the drum rotates at high speeds, centrifugal force pushes the denser solids particles towards the drum wall, forming a cake layer. Meanwhile, the lighter liquid phase moves towards the center of the drum.
The centrifuge discharges the liquid phase through the bottom, either continuously or intermittently, depending on the design.
Cake Discharge: Once the centrifugation process is complete, the solids cake adhering to the drum wall is typically manually or automatically discharged.
